PSA- Apple Accessory Support Doesn’t ”Just Work”

Sad Mac

For those who hope to receive support for the Apple accessories for their iPads such as with a Magic Keyboard or Apple Pencil, you may be in for an unpleasant surprise. According to Apple’s official website for AppleCare+ for iPad, “AppleCare+ extends your iPad, Apple Pencil, and Apple‑branded iPad keyboard coverage and includes up to two incidents of accidental damage protection every 12 months.” [Taken directly from their website on 08/23/22]

What Apple doesn’t tell you, even in their fine print, is that the Apple Accessory MUST be purchased with the iPad, or from Apple themselves or an authorized third-party retailer and added to an active AppleCare+ plan by calling Apple Customer Service (800-275-2273 in the USA) and asking for the AppleCare Admin department. It’s important to note that, if you call Apple Customer Service, the technical support team will more than likely not know this- you must request to speak with the AppleCare specialists/team.

There’s a great forum post on MacRumors regarding this topic here.
